Tommy: (narrating) You know, the world isn't run by the laws written on 

paper. It's run by people. Some according to laws, others not. It depends 

on each individual how his world will be, how he makes it. And you also 

need a whole lot of luck, so that somebody else doesn't make your life 

hell. And it ain't as simple as they tell you in grade school. But it is 

good to have strong values and to maintain them. In marriage, in crime, in 
war, always and everywhere.

Tommy: (narr.) I messed up. So did Paulie and Sam. We wanted a better life, 
but in the end we were a lot worse off 
than most other people. You know, I 
think it's important to keep a balance 
in things. Yeah, balance, that's the 
right word. Because the guy who wants 
too much risks losing absolutely 
everything. Of course, the guy who wants 
too little from life, might not 
get anything at all

[align=right]تامی:دنیا توسط قوانین نوشته شده روی کاغذ اداره نمیشه بلکه این آ م ها هستن که دنیا رو می گردونن. حالا ممکنه بعضیا بر طبق قوانین ادارش کنن ولی بعضیا نه. به خود هر شخص بستگی داره که زندگیش چجوریه و چجوری اونو درست می کنه. درضمن تو مقدار زیادی باید

 نکنه و {زندگی} به همون سادگیا که توی مدرسه ابتدایی بهمون میگن نیس. خوبه که آدم ارزش ها و اعتقاداتی رو توی زندگی واسه خودش داشته باشه و حفظش کنه.... توی ازدواج توی جنایت و ... و همه جا!

[align=right]من و سم و پائولی خراب کردیم.... با اینکه ما دنبال یک زندگی بهتر بودیم ولی در آخر وضعمون از اکثر آدم ها بدتر شد. میدونی من فکر می کنم که رعایت کردن تعادل توی همه چیز ها مهم ترین کاره..... اونی که خیلی زیاد می خواد ریسکش از دست دادن همه چیزه و اونی که چیزی از این زندگی نمی خواد ممکنه اصلا هیچ چیز بهش نرسه.
